Project Overview
I recently had the pleasure of working with The Great Wine Company on an exciting photography project for their August Sale. The goal was clear: create compelling, high-quality imagery of the wines featured in their monthly promotion. These images were to be used across their website homepage, carousel banners, social media platforms, and advertising materials to help drive engagement and promote their curated selection of discounted wines.
My Role
This was a solo project, and I was responsible for planning, styling, and capturing all the imagery for the campaign. The brief included photographing a variety of wine bottles both individually and in groups, ensuring each shot was visually appealing and consistent with the client’s brand aesthetic.
Challenges
One of the main challenges I encountered during this shoot was the limited natural light in the shooting environment. Wine bottles can be particularly tricky to photograph, especially in low-light conditions, due to reflections and the need for clean highlights and clarity.
Solutions
To overcome this, I relied heavily on artificial lighting, using a combination of off-camera flash and continuous lights to create a controlled lighting setup. This allowed me to manipulate shadows, reduce reflections, and highlight the details and textures of each bottle effectively. With careful positioning and light modifiers, I was able to mimic the feel of natural light and produce a clean, professional result.
Results
The final outcome was a series of polished, high-resolution photographs that The Great Wine Company successfully used across their website and digital platforms. The images helped visually anchor the campaign and played a key role in promoting their wide selection of wines on sale for June 2025.
