Project Overview
The Great Wine Company hosted their Great Spring Tasting — a showcase event featuring a curated selection of wines for clients and wine enthusiasts. The event took place at the Treetop Café in Royal Victoria Park, Bath, a bright, open venue that provided a scenic and relaxed atmosphere for guests to enjoy.
The client required a range of professional images to use across their digital platforms, including:
- Coverage of the event space and atmosphere
- Lifestyle photos of guests interacting with the wines
- Product shots of individual and grouped bottles
- Promotional visuals for their website carousel and social media
- The imagery was also to support their May 2025 promotional campaign, spotlighting seasonal wines on sale.
My Role
I was hired as the lead photographer to visually document the event and deliver a collection of polished, versatile images. My responsibilities included:
- Capturing natural, candid moments during the event
- Photographing the layout and setup of wines across tables
- Styling and shooting bottles individually and in small groups
- Producing high-quality visuals for both marketing and editorial use
- While I worked independently, I was assisted onsite by the Great Wine Co.’s Private Client Executive for coordination and bottle placement.
Challenges
Despite the smooth flow of the event, there were two key challenges:
- Navigating a busy venue without disrupting the guest experience
- Managing inconsistent lighting conditions across the space
Solutions
To overcome these challenges:
- I used a mobile, non-intrusive setup to move through the crowd efficiently
- I utilized off-camera flash and artificial lighting where needed
- In post-production, I refined lighting and color balance to maintain a clean, cohesive look across all images
Results
The final image set delivered:
- A collection of high-resolution photos used across the client’s website, homepage carousel, and social channels.
- Lifestyle and product imagery that enhanced brand storytelling and created a more engaging online presence.
- Support for the May 2025 wine sale campaign, driving engagement and promoting featured wines.
