Project Overview
I had the pleasure of photographing The Lily Foundation’s Charity Golf Day at the beautiful Cumberwell Park Golf Club. This annual event is held to raise funds and awareness for Mitochondrial Disease—a cause close to the hearts of many. The day brought together supporters, sponsors, and golf enthusiasts for a memorable and impactful event.
My Role
My responsibility was to visually document the event from start to finish. This included:
Capturing guest arrivals and welcome moments
Photographing branded activations and sponsor displays
Team portraits before tee-off
Action shots of players throughout the course
The goal was to create a cohesive collection of images that told the story of the day while also serving as valuable promotional content for the charity.
Challenges
One of the main challenges was capturing dynamic action shots from a distance. With golfers spread out across the course and a long lens required to get close to the action, camera shake became a concern—especially when trying to maintain sharpness and clarity in the images.
Solutions
To overcome this, I used a high shutter speed to freeze motion effectively and mounted the camera lens on a monopod to stabilize the shots. This setup allowed for smoother tracking of the players without compromising image quality.
Results
The final collection featured a series of crisp, high-quality photographs that captured the energy and spirit of the day. The Lily Foundation was able to use these images across their social media platforms and promotional channels, helping to raise further awareness for their cause and highlight the success of the event.
